Operation Night Strikers - Assault Edition (Switch)

Well, my last game (currently) from Limited Run Games finally arrived.  It's the Taito arcade shooting game collection.

This contains four games, three of which I'm readily familiar with: Operation Wolf, Operation Thunderbolt, and Space Gun.  My local video rental store (from when I was a kid) actually had a Space Gun arcade machine, though I wasn't any good at it.  And I already have the NES and SNES ports of Operation Wolf and Operation Thunderbolt.

I think this collector's edition was the only way to get the physical version of this compilation.  There is no standard, cartridge-only version that I'm aware of.  Still, I'm not complaining.

There was supposed to be a plastic gun accessory too (to hold the Joy-Cons), but apparently, those couldn't be manufactured at the desired price point, so at the last second, the company that was going to release those plastic shells abandoned the peripheral.  They sadly never went on sale.

It's interesting seeing companies continue to support the Switch well after the Switch 2 has arrived.  It reminds me of when the NES was continuing to get notable releases even with the SNES on the market (this actually lasted until 1994).  I expect the same situation to occur for the new few years with the Switch/Switch 2.

Unless you look at prior handhelds, the closest scenario was the Wii/Wii U transition, but that was mostly limited to the Just Dance games and perhaps some sports titles.

I don't doubt that I'll pick up more Switch titles in the future.  I haven't made up my mind yet, but I may get that new Castlevania game, which seems to have only been announced for the Switch, and not the Switch 2.
